A map of tall buildings, towers, masts, wind turbines and industrial structures across Europe (including Russia and Iceland), Turkey, Georgia, the United States, Canada, Greenland and Mexico, compiled from OpenStreetMap and cross-checked against official registers. Coverage depends on source mapping, so the map is thorough but not guaranteed complete.
Heights: “recorded” heights come from the data source; “estimated” ones come from a related source (e.g. the number of storeys). Many structures have no known height. Heights that were clearly wrong in the source (such as a hill's altitude typed in as a height) have been removed. In the USA, mast heights are checked against the FCC Antenna Structure Registration and wind-turbine heights against the USGS U.S. Wind Turbine Database; in Canada, turbines against the Canadian Wind Turbine Database.
Positions: map coordinates are checked against country boundaries and maritime zones. Area features use a point inside their mapped shape. Source mapping can still be wrong or outdated.
Borders: Crimea is shown as part of Ukraine, following the internationally recognised border (UN General Assembly resolution 68/262). The USA means the 50 states and DC; its overseas territories are not included. Disputed maritime areas are omitted where the source does not assign a clear zone. Power lines, pylons and ski-lift pylons are not shown.
Comments are public and visible to everyone who opens the same structure. Each person can post 3 per day, links are not allowed, and a quick CAPTCHA check is required.
Safety: masts, turbines and industrial structures are dangerous and usually on private or restricted land. Never climb or approach them and don't fly drones near them. Positions are for information only, not for navigation, aviation or engineering use.
